Serving as a room parent is a great way to get involved! The role can vary by teacher and grade, but typically includes:
Building community
A class roster, a few social events (even simple playground meet-ups).
Showing appreciation
Organizing teacher/paraprofessional appreciation around the holidays, Teacher Appreciation Week in May, and end of year.
Assisting the teacher
Supplemental snacks, coordinating a field trip, signing up FoodPrints or mystery-reader volunteers, as needed.
Keeping parents in the loop
Encouraging participation in school/PTO events by keeping other classroom parents informed.
