Our goal is to help students interact with the school community in positive, responsible, and productive ways. Marie Reed follows DCPS’s Philosophy and Approach to Student Behavior and Discipline, built around intentional school culture, comprehensive student support, an instructional approach to discipline, and consistent, progressive responses that minimize lost instructional time. The school also uses Second Step and Conscious Discipline to build self-advocacy, empathy, and self-awareness.
Bullying Policy
Marie Reed is committed to a caring, safe environment for every student. DCPS defines bullying as severe, pervasive, or persistent physical, electronic, or verbal conduct that targets a student’s actual or perceived identity or characteristics, and that reasonably places a student in fear, harms their wellbeing, or interferes with their education.
Bullying or suspected bullying can be reported in person, in writing, or anonymously to any Marie Reed staff member or administrator, or directly to the school’s Bullying Point of Contact, the Dean of Student Culture. Reports are promptly investigated, documented, and communicated to the families of everyone involved, along with steps taken to ensure safety.
